I am a positive piano teacher and good with both children and adults. I use positive reinforcement that I learned from working with people with disabilities. I studied piano, theory and composition in college for three years and have studied with performing artists afterwards. I have worked with other professionals to compose a ballet and enjoy working with young people. I performed in college many times and have the experience to teach students the challenges in memorization and performance. Read More

A relationship with music is a very personal thing. To some it is all about the competition while to others it is simply the joy of playing for one's self. It is my job as a teacher to help each student discover what it is they want to get out of their experience with music and then help to nurture that experience. To treat music like a sport and assume that all students have the same expectations is a mistake that is made all too often with our schools and is, regrettably, all too often the main reason why so many kids choose not to continue with music. Instruments: Voice Latin Percussion Music
I facilitated individual an group musical collaborations, and helped train people to do the same via workshops I facilitated at conferences. I have also led community singalongs, and taught individual students vocals and percussion over this time. I'm a big believer that everyone can sing and everyone can drum, and that music is a gift inherent to being human that we all can share and rejoice in. I encourage students to become comfortable with vocal and rhythmic musical expression, and teach tools and techniques and exercises that can help develop their skills and craft. Read More

My teaching experience has been incredibly rewarding and I have a deep love for teaching. I believe that knowledge is best imparted when it is shared with enthusiasm and passion, and I strive to make my lessons engaging and enjoyable for my students. I also recognize the importance of love and compassion in education, as it can help foster a positive learning environment. My teaching philosophy focuses on building students' independent study habits, so that they can become self-sufficient learners. Read More

With the knickname, "Song Bird", Iperformed as school choir soloist and as leads in various Rodgers and Hammerstein productions at summer camp.I spent nearly every Christmas in New York City whereI gained a love of the Broadway musical. During the summers,I performed with a folk trio in Washington, D.C. venues and learned how to connect with an intimate audience. Read More

I didn't expect to start teaching 3 years ago. It took me a year after graduating school to fully bring myself to the idea of teaching music, but as soon as I started I found a new joy of sharing music with others through learning. I began at a local music store in Dallas, TX in 2019 and it wasn't long after that I had a full schedule of both voice piano students of all ages, different levels, and different ranges of style. I like to create lessons in which students learn to read traditional music notation, develop technique, and play familiar tunes. I use musictheory.net to help student practice reading note names. The faster a student can read musical notation, the faster the student can pick up new pieces. To develop technique, I want students to lean scales and arpeggios. Sometimes, we use a technique book to develop muscle memory, and other times technical exercises are created based on the tricky musical passages of solo or ensemble pieces. Read More
