Instruments: Piano Voice
I started teaching voice and piano lessons while I was a student at Wartburg College. I continued teaching when I moved to New Mexico and I now have ten years of studio teaching experience. After completing my Master's Degree in Vocal Performance, I returned to UNM to attain a New Mexico Teaching License. I have been teaching elementary music in the public schools for five years since attaining that license. Read More

I first started teaching guitar in high school after i got a few lessons from someone i looked up to in high school. From then on i have loved to teach music to all ages!. My longest student started at 12 and by time he was 17 years old i told him he would be having to teach me a few things soon. we became friends and were in a band together for a while until i moved south, i loved having that connection, and i hope to find plenty others like that. it makes me feel good knowing others are gaining from my teaching so i do my very best! Instruments: Voice
Myteaching methodsinvolve a mind-body experience. I believe that a strong foundation in body alignment, breath support and management will allow students to build the skills they desire, regardless of musical style or genre. With an eye always on healthy singing,Iencourage students to experience many styles of vocal repertoire. Each student brings a set of perceptions about singing. Some of these are helpful, while others are habits that students work to eliminate.I believe that students need tounderstand the physical, emotional, and mental components of singing. Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
My goodness! Teaching for me began in classes of four to five kids, with no materials aside from our little keyboards and one music book. We had a blast there, and I look forward even more to being able to teach children and adults on a one-on-one basis, perhaps even one-on-two! I am a collaborative teacher, and will guide you through different lesson options and curriculum that best fit the student’s learning style and age. Read More

I love music! I hope to spread my love of music to you. I have been playing the piano for more than 45 years and enjoy watching students grow with their interest and passion for the piano. I compose and produce music as well, so I can bring perhaps a deeper perspective to studying music and the theory that is behind it. I have a Latin Grammy nomination, a Native American Music Award (NAMA), as well as experience producing and composing commercial music for large companies in many genres. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Violin Viola
My beginners start on violin, and the first few weeks learning the basics of position and posture. Then I start them with Suzuki Book 1 and supplemental rhythm and theory exercises. After book 1, I assess their progress and drive and either switch them to Barbara Barber's Solos for Young Violinists, or have them stay through Suzuki Book 2 and 3. If my students have interest in viola, I encourage them to stay on violin until they are in high school or even longer (through Mozart concertos) if possible. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Keyboard
I constantly adapt and customize the lesson material according to the age of the student and the styles of music they are interested in learning. If a student has trouble with a particular concept, I might write an additional lesson for the student to get extra practice. For very young students, I create fun exercises in order to hold their interest. For example, I might include a coloring exercise that asks a student to "color the quarter notes red" or "draw a circle around the sixteenth rests". Read More
