For intermediate and advanced students, I like to figure out what kind of popular music (rock, blues, jazz, pop) that they would like to play and learn more about, and then learn repetoire or basic techniques in that particular genre. Again, I specialize mainly in popular styles, and am not much of a classical player. I hold a doctorate degree in Music and specialize in teaching classical music from the Renaissance period, Baroque, classical periods, as well as pop and broadway. I teach all voice types, with expertise in mezzo soprano and countertenor literature, but vast knowledge in all. I use proven vocal techniques along side vocal yoga practices to help people to find their true, natural voice. We always had a piano in the house when I was little. I started showing interest in the piano when I was about 3. At 6, my parents enrolled me at the St. Louis Institute of Music, the premier school for being a music student. The school taught students K-12, and had an accredited 4 year college. Most of the teachers in the preparatory school had graduated from the college, and were well respected musicians in the city. Read More

 As mentioned before, I've been teaching for about 11 years. I've taught at charter schools, leading concert band and jazz band rehearsals at local schools and coaching smaller sections of the ensembles. Educational outreach is a part of my job as a musician in the Air Force. We regularly visit schools and provide clinics and presentations for students. After teaching myself theory at the age of 4, I received my first musical instruction in 6th grade. At that time I learned to play the flute. This is where my musicianship began to blossom and opportunities were sent my way. Thanks to my love and dedication, I was one of a few placed in special bands. Auditioning & being selected for choruses during this time increased as well. As a result of my hard work, I was offered & accepted the positions at section leader and Drum Majorette in my high school's concert and marching bands & after joining choir my junior year I became lead soloist of the choir. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. It is always my goal to unlock the singer's true, natural voice, so that they can create their own personal sound. I use a functional bel canto method that focuses on a natural expression of the voice and an active breath and resonance.
