How I teach is heavily influenced by my wish to hopefully one day pass on the same love and passion I have for music. The purpose of our lessons will be to find which ways of practicing work best for you and help you improve as efficiently as possible. I will focus on making you the best musician and individual you can be. I try to be as flexible as possible with my students. Read More
Instruments: Piano Flute
As a pianist, I took classes from IU that broadened my capability as a teacher to teach everything from general, choral, and instrumental music. I had my senior piano solo recital. I have a diverse range of performing experiences as a vocalist, including Opera, International Vocal Ensemble, and show choirs. With voice lessons, I have learned a lot about singing and being able to teach healthy singing. As an instrumentalist, I played in band ensemble for 10 years and have also taken all the instrumental technique classes that study instruments by families in depth. Read More
Instruments: Drums
The exciting part of teaching is when the students eyes are opened to the possibilities that are in front of them. I'm so lucky that I get to share that with them. Understanding is the key to momentum so it is up to me that each student sees what I see. Then the fun really begins. Teaching has been an exceptional gift for me to share. Every student of mine will achieve and succeed because they see how much fun it is to play. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
My teaching style is loose but stern in the same respect. I insist in practice but am understanding toward the students priorities. Read More

I began teaching bass in high school to elementary and middle school students. In college, as my knowledge of music theory expanded, I began teaching guitar and voice as well. Students need not be able to read music to study with me, although if we begin a professional relationship, know that I use much theory and classical techniques in all styles of playing on both guitar and bass. I'm currently teach jazz music the most, but I have found that covering more styles as a teacher reminds me of how connected the world of music really is and I'd love to get back into teaching rock, classical, funk and other styles of music. Instruments: Trombone
My experience dates back to my high school days, in which I had the opportunity to help the beginners prepare for ensemble playing. Throughout my undergraduate days, I was able to work with colleagues in master class, lesson and rehearsal settings that have now won positions in the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, United States Naval Academy Band, Richmond Symphony Orchestra and the Pershings Own United States Army Band. For beginning students, I like to start with the basic fundamentals of holding the drum sticks properly and how to set up the drum set so its comfortable for the student. Every body type is different and its important to start with that. Then we would move on to learning the basics of different styles and then move on to reading music from method books. With adult students, I find out what they are interested in and work towards their goals. Read More
