The technique I use is based on the Alexander Method of teaching and promotes proper breath control and tone placement over volume production and belting. Most singers, young and old, come to me with the idea that to create volume, you must yell or sing from your throat. Throughout my years in Colorado, I worked several years as a volunteer music teacher assistant. During this time, I worked with children from as little as preschool all the way up to 7th graders and got them engaged in a musical environment. After this, I began teaching private piano lessons to close individuals who wanted to introduced to the instrument. I begin teaching from piano books published by Alfred. I also have the student learn their scales as well as give a weekly written music theory assignment. I incorporate styles and songs the student enjoys listening to or playing as well. I like to teach classical music.
