I started studying at the age of 7 and never looked back. I'm about to graduate with my degree in vocal performance and have already completed my pedagogy requirements. I have 4 years of teaching experience, and 13+ years of performing experience. I primarily perform opera, however I have extensive experience in musical theater, solo jazz and in vocal jazz ensembles, as well as concert and chamber choirs. I am comfortable teaching any of these styles, though of course when it comes to opera younger students will start with art song and other classical styles that are more suited to the less mature voice. My methods all depend on the students' needs and/or wishes; one lesson plan/method does not necessarily fit all students. Especially with adult students I think it is essential to cater to the students' goal. If this involves the need to learn certain techniques, requires knowledge of music theory or the ability to read music, I will advise the student so. From there we can set up a lesson plan and practice schedule that creates a path towards obtaining the students' original goals. Read More

My approach to learning an instruments is to have the students learn to play by ear first before they can start learning to read music. I find that most students are able to progress quickly because it frees them to focus on the playing the instruments rather than reading notes. I consider reading music like different subject that they learn later. Learning music is like learning to speak. First we learn to talk and then we learn to read and write. Read More

I began to teach guitar lessons when I was 15 years old while I was studying at Orange County High School of the Arts. My first student was my age and I learned early on that a good teacher can inspire passion in their students; I have made a personal goal of mine to be the best teacher I can possibly be! Since then I have taught dozens of guitarists how to read music, improve their technique and preparation for the music they play. Read More

My teaching career began when I was in high school. My primary goal at the time was to gain experience in teaching and with it, brought much trial and error. I honed my expertise in music and teaching, while learning about the countless way in which a student learns. I submitted a proposal to present in Texas and was selected to present my lecture on "Teaching Methods", and gained much insight into the learning process of students. Read More

Applied behavior analysis is key to teaching complex tasks and acquiring fine motor skills to perform the student’s intentions. Reward systems are implemented with social reinforcement and earned graduation plans (free strings, picks, CD’s, books, etc.). I cater to the wishes and dreams of the student, while directing them to meet the requirements to obtain those wishes and dreams. Nothing is forced, compliance is always granted and earned, determined work ethic is displayed throughout. Read More
