Instruments: Piano Keyboard
Throughout my years in Colorado, I worked several years as a volunteer music teacher assistant. During this time, I worked with children from as little as preschool all the way up to 7th graders and got them engaged in a musical environment. After this, I began teaching private piano lessons to close individuals who wanted to introduced to the instrument. I find so much joy in engaging and motivating the students and I am very excited to continue teaching more students in the bay area. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Clarinet
The technique I use is based on the Alexander Method of teaching and promotes proper breath control and tone placement over volume production and belting. Most singers, young and old, come to me with the idea that to create volume, you must yell or sing from your throat. With that mindset, what oftentimes happens is the voice will give out after five years and will result in the need of surgery to remove things like vocal nodules. Read More

I approach teaching in a way that encourages students to learn at a pace that's comfortable for them. Since the lessons are one -on-one, there is no need to keep up with a herd like you're in school. So I try to give a healthy balance of goals that are attainable only if the student practices and reviewing material from the past to see what has been retained while also showing how certain musical material is not like riding a bike... you will forget without some upkeep. My experience in teaching dates back to my time in college, where I coached a few music education majors on the flute. Since then, I have offered my expertise towards community flautists, Emeritus band flute players, and a wide range of percussion and flute students. I am committed to the advancement of my students and feel really encouraged to see them grow and change. From younger to older - beginning, intermediate, or advanced - I will always try my hardest to keep you engaged and moving forward. Read More

Each student learns at their own pace and it's important to understand that not everybody learns the same. Setting both short and long term goals with the student helps me understand what they want out of lessons. This makes it easier for me to engage with them and bring it back to something relevant to them at the end of the day. For example, no child understands advanced rhythm unless you disguise it in familiar terms e.g. using the phrase "run po-ny run" to describe two eighth notes sandwiched in between to quarter notes.
