In 2016, I graduated from the University of Arts of Havana, Cuba with a Major degree in Classical Music Composition. My main training is in vocal and choral music. I create play-along videos, so that kids have something specific to practice at home. I use "Read this First" as a note reading book. Students play along with me and also by themselves at lessons. Eventually kids can gather together and play as a group if they wish to do so. I start with memorization, and easy ways of writing down the songs... and eventually kids will learn to read music, after they've secured a basic technique. Read More

I encourage lots of individuality and fun. Music is a way to express yourself. I'm never teaching for the purpose for the student to become better than others to win awards and perform at recitals. Self expression and achieving personal goals to me are far more important than winning competitions and on-paper accomplishments. For beginning strings students (even young children) to advanced students, I use the Suzuki method along with the accompanying sight reading book, I Can Read Music. Advanced students who have reached Suzuki book 6 and beyond are invited to seek out other repertoire as a supplement to their Suzuki studies. Students who are involved in an orchestra are also invited to bring excerpts of their music to their lessons so that I can help them to feel confident and prepared at playing tests and auditions. Anyone can learn to sing through persistence, hard work, and healthy practice. Singing helps improve lung capacity, diaphragm muscles, immune system strength, and relieves stress. Reading and performing music also exercises the same areas of the brain that handle math, language, and critical thinking. For my younger students, I focus on breathing, proper posture, and the fundamentals of music. For my older students, I work on correct technique, languages, musical analysis, advanced repertoire, as well as appropriate repertoire they want to work on. Read More
