Bastien Books are my favorite piano books to teach out of. But, Others are good as well. (Piano adventures, Alfred, Faber and Faber, ect) For piano we always do Theory , Technic, and go through a song book which will take you gradually through the levels and correspond the Theory and technique lessons. For Voice, We focus on Breathing, Warmups and I teach in the style that suits the student. Each student has their individual track. Read More

My teaching experience began while attending college and has been on and off with my performing schedule but I believe the performance has help me focused on teaching from real-world experience. I therefore dont like to spend a lot of time during lessons on topics a student may never use. This also helps the student hold interest in their lessons. I approach teaching from the students perspective, whenever possible and try to always emphasize the musical style they are most interested in. Read More

My lesson styles are geared towards the end goals of the students. As not all students will have the desire to become professional musicians, the ultimate goal is to build lifelong lovers of the arts...and if the student decides that music is a career, then the lessons are geared accordingly. For younger children, the ultimate goal is that their love of the music and instrument will spark their desire for practice and further learning, but that they ENJOY music as an art and experience first. No matter the age, i think it's always important to find out what genres of music the student enjoys. This is because they will most likely stay engaged and develop a passion for pieces they find enjoyable. For beginners, I start with the Michael Aaron Piano Course books. Technique such as finger placement, body mechanics, and scales are interwoven to increase proficiency. For adults, I will ask about their ability level and if other instruments have been played in the past. Read More

My teaching style feels relaxed but I work hard to keep students in their least restrictive environment. We dont want the student to be too challenged or bored. For this reason I am flexible with the content we work on and the order in which we complete different parts of the lesson. I give a lot of choice to students, maybe one day they want to start with working on some improvisation and want to work on their assigned pieces the 2nd half of the lesson. Read More

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
First off, don't hurry through it! Make sure you set aside enough time to relax and focus on the material. This should be in a distraction free and well lit area. It's best if you can find a place to be alone, although i know that is sometimes a challenge. You also need to learn practice techniques that will help you tackle difficult sections and keep you from getting frustrated. In piano, this could be practicing with hands apart, slowing down the tempo or writing in some of the more difficult notes. Lastly, always have a pencil ready! There is nothing wrong with writing in some reminders in the music!

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
This of course is different with every student. In regards to the piano, I ask that the minimum age be 5 years old. This will ensure the child's dexterity is developed enough to be able to place his or her hands on the keyboard effectively. Attention span is also a key component as well and will affect the child's development with the instrument. Sometimes if a child has trouble sitting still for 30 minutes, you may want to consider waiting a year or two until the child develops a little further. I of course have learned this seeing that I often had trouble sitting still at that age! ;)

When will I start to see results?
You should began to see growth after the first month. Sometimes sooner depending on the student's age and readiness. My goal to have the student learn something new every week and be able to demonstrate it back to me the following week. This could be a new song, scale, concept or technique. In that sense, each child should be showing results after each lesson. I cannot stress the importance of the student practicing during the week. This will really make the difference between seeing growth and not seeing it.

Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
My high school choir teacher was awesome! She was so passionate and committed to teaching music that it greatly inspired me to make it my passion as well. She was firm and tough and taught me the value and of course the payoff of hard work and practice. She was also an accomplished keyboardist and I always wanted to play like her. I believe that it was her love of music that allowed me to make it though my degree in college, getting through the tough times and discouragement. It helped me keep my eye on the prize and accomplish my dreams!

These pedals contain powerful software that can convert your tone into one produced by the instrument of your choosing.     Stereo Vs. Mono     Similar to EQ effects pedals, some pedals come equipped with the option to run signals as stereo or mono. The stereo option presents a more comprehensive representation of your sound, but it also can come with unwanted sound problems, which is the reason that many musicians opt for mono.   Other Instruments That Use Pedals   We’ve just scratched the surface here as far as effects pedal ... Good Guitar Brands: A Quick Overview for New Players

...guitar is the brand, manufacturer, or luthier.   Each brand has its own distinctions, benefits, drawbacks, and niche which it appeals to.
