For beginning students, I typically start with Piano Adventures. Advanced beginners usually have other excellent methods such as Bastien, Schuam, or Alfred, and I use any method which is acceptable. Adults, or more advanced students, usually have a particular interest in a certain style of music or keyboard skill which I help cultivate. Though nothing matches the sound, subtlety and feel of an acoustic - the essence of the art of the classical tradition - I encourage students to use MIDI-aided learning tools to develop their sight-reading skills. I am a patient teacher and encourge students to work at their own pace. If we need to spend more time on a certain concept or technique than one lesson allows, we will. I want to make sure that they understand throroughly before moving on to the next concept. At the same time, I want my students to feel challenged in their lessons so that they will be willing to go home and put the work in during their practice time. Read More

For beginning students it is important to develop a sense of enjoyment in playing, as well as a sound grasp of the fundamentals. I encourage students to explore and even compose music that they enjoy and will help them grow as a musician. I find this to be a great way to motivate students to practice and make music fun as well as educational. Read More

I started teaching when I was in high school. I was inspired by both my parents who are teachers and I learned a lot from them. I started growing my studio when I was in school, about 7 years ago, I was teaching at soundboard music in Stow, Ohio. My private studio kept growing so i decided to leave the music store and it has been growing since then. I love encouraging students to practice and keeping them motivated to really work hard and feel good about what they had done. Read More
