And so, in 2007, I officially joined the Reisterstown Jazz Ensemble, a seat I held until 2011. Since then, I have also been fortunate to play in restaurants and hotels in the Baltimore area. A good technical foundation is the hallmark of musical performance, appreciation and motivation. I believe the student witnessing their own progress develop serves a greater motivation than any empty words a teacher can say. Their own satisfaction prompts them to practice more, fed by the very spark of musical desire they possess within them. Practicing is not fun, but playing music is. As a musician, I believe that while learning and making music it is important not only to learn the fundamental techniques required for the instrument, but to have fun while playing.
