Music is for everyone and I want lessons to always be a safe space, and a fun space. There is no one right pace for people to learn, whatever works best for you! We can achieve this by setting S.M.A.R.T goals, as well as potential benchmarks to rate progress by. I like to approach each lesson with empathy, humor, and curiosity. I think there is much we can learn from ourselves and each other, so I like to keep my teaching focused, exciting, but also attentive to each persons needs and what goals we are trying to achieve in a given day. Frequently playing with my siblings in piano trios deepened my appreciation for ensemble music. Even in elementary school my sisters and I would hold family concerts from which the proceeds would be donated to orphanages. Some of these concerts were featured by local television. These benefit performances continued in college where I would perform with my sisters for the children at House of Hope, an orphanage in Korea and continued to Charity Concert at Blair House Senior Independent Living Community IL. Some of the process can be repetitive, but helping students see the payoff makes the repetitive part worth it. I am a positive, encouraing person. In my lessons, I strive to cover the major elements required to be a successful trombonist or musician in not only the jazz idiom, but the general music industry as a whole.
