I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall. Now that I am in college, my own playing has improved and I have found new ways to connect and teach students whether that be in person, or by using technology such as skype. Read More

I truthfully love giving lessons, and students sense this. Positive feedback is always given before negative. I help students set specific, attainable goals so they can progress at their own pace. I graduated college in the Spring of 2020 and then proceeded to get a temporary teaching job as a orchestra director in Pike Township for the first half of the year. This was followed by an elementary teaching position in the same township. I then took a step back to focus on my playing. I like to begin all my students on a combination of technical studies and enjoyable/familiar melodies. This will help them learn the fundamentals in a rewarding way, because as they progress they will continue to learn new songs week after week. This is much more rewarding than checking of series of technical exercises. Additionally it is important to have both small goals to achieve each week and large goals to achieve over a number of months, so my students can be aware and proud of their progress over time.
