Teaching for me really became serious in 2018. I started with teaching in my own home and did go to the houses of my students as well for a short time. I do my best to give my students a good practice regimen that they can use to practice everyday, while also providing them tips to practice the pieces that they are trying to put together on their own. Young students will be taught using a variety of games, activities, and found in Suzukis theories. Music History and Music Theory are offered to intermediate and advanced students. I teach intermediate through advanced students of any instrument, beginning with basics such as key and time signatures and basic harmony. Classes are also offered in Species Counterpoint, musical forms and terms, and eventually Baroque and Classical compositional forms for any students participating in All State. Read More

For very young beginning students, I usually start with Shirley Givens' Adventures in Violinland. After some time, I like to switch to the Suzuki books to encourage training their ears. Each student is very different, and I cater and switch method books based on each student's individual need. For all ages, I encourage them to listen to violinists they enjoy on YouTube, and choose pieces they want to learn. Even if what they choose is a challenge, I believe they will be more inspired to work hard to learn the piece if they chose it. Read More
