I then studied at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I studied composition with Claude Baker and Sven-David Sandstrm, and violin with Federico Agostini. My music ranges from classical, Latin-influenced, to electronic. Young students will be taught using a variety of games, activities, and found in Suzukis theories. Music History and Music Theory are offered to intermediate and advanced students. I teach intermediate through advanced students of any instrument, beginning with basics such as key and time signatures and basic harmony. Classes are also offered in Species Counterpoint, musical forms and terms, and eventually Baroque and Classical compositional forms for any students participating in All State. Read More

For very beginning students, I usually start with the Suzuki Method Books and All For Strings Comprehensive String Method Books. I usually encourage my students to read music, but for the youngest students I start by playing with them and having them copy me. Once they are ready, I start teaching them basic music theory that will help them read music. For intermediate to advanced players I institute a routine of practicing scales and etudes as well as a solo piece that is appropriate for their ability level. Read More

My love for teaching began as a peer tutor in college. I tutored students in piano, guitar, bass ear training, and music theory. I began to love teaching when I noticed the change and progress it creates within people. While in college, I taught at a musical theatre camp as a music teacher. I taught music theory, ear training, and vocal music. Right after I graduated college I was accepted into the music education program at Teachers College Columbia University where I received my masters degree in music education along with certification in New York state to teach Pre-K through 12.
