I generally do not teach directly from a book. I only use them as guides. I always felt that was the lazy way of doing things. A book doesn't know the student. I find that students of any age, learn and adapt to teaching in different ways and speeds. I start from the very bottom and we build every lesson, using previous lessons as building blocks. I have been in the top auditioned ensemble of NMSU for all 4 years and section leader for 2. I have been the president of NMSU Chapter American Choral Directors Association and president of NMSU Chapter National Association for Music Educators.
