Once I find out their level, I take things one step at a time. I always do warm ups, and exercises based on wha t they need work on. I am patient with the students but I do expect them to come prepared. If they do well, I will absoutely let them know, and if they need to work on something, I politely let them know. After various performing opportunities in high school, I started my journey to become a music educator at the University of Miami in 2007. My participation in choral and theatre ensembles has taken me around the world practicing my passion and mastering my craft. I currently produce classical music concerts in addition to teaching private lessons. Throughout my singing career, I have had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall and Geffen Hall in New York, the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia, the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, and various locations throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Ecuador, and Spain. I have a tried and true set of vocal building exercises (also known as "warmups") that I use with all of my students. These exercises help to strengthen students middle voices, extend their ranges, increase their agility, and increase their stamina. I combine these exercises with carefully assigned repertoire to promote growth and functional freedom. I love to have my students sing in many different genres because our voices are muscles, and I believe that they should be cross-trained so one can be as versatile and flexible as possible. I've taught lessons for a total of 8 years in New York City, Boston, and Midwestern Illinois. I've taught all kinds of students: children, teens, college students, adults, and retirees. Each student has come with their own goals and passions, and I enjoy helping each individual uncover, free, and develop the natural voice within. In addition to setting each student up with a solid vocal technique, I've taught basic music and vocal health to young children (ages 5-7), developed music reading skills in teens and young adults, helped retirees improve technically so they can better contribute to their community choirs, and even instructed a folk singer in improvisation, songwriting, and healthy folk vocal technique.
