For voice students, I teach technique, do breathing and vocal exercises, and work on songs. I teach basic music reading, interpretation of songs, as well as good techique and diction. I am a versatile singer and instructor who loves working with students of all ages. I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with minors in Musical Theater and Songwriting. While in Dallas, I performed with various professional Equity musical theater companies including Casa Manana, Lyric Stage and Theater Three. I have been consistently involved in teaching students, both in my home studio as private instructor and as a part of the program Learning On Stage in which I perform and share different Latin-American music styles to teach students from high school and middle school. I found that I could excel and after living two years in Bolivia, came back and studied voice with a well traveled professional baritone in Seattle. I would begin each lesson with a vocal warmup so that I can see where their tone is placed and if they are an alto/soprano/tenor/etc. I would ask what genres they are interested in or what types of music they like.
