I have been teaching privately for twelve years, and I have many different styles of teaching. I focused all of my lessons on what the goals are, and what are in the students best interests. Every person should have a chance to learn music, and I strive to help students reach there goals every lesson. Read More

Thus, in order to improve my teaching skills, I took voice pedagogy in graduate school, understanding how influential a voice teacher could be. My teaching style is fun and goal oriented. I like to meet my students where they are and grow from there. I spend a lot of our first sessions asking questions and learning about what makes them excited about music, who they love to listen to, who they love to sing, and go from there. I believe in building a solid technique through both technical and anecdotal examples. I want to make sure I am always focused on what my student wants to get out of our time together. Read More

While in undergrad at DePauw University I served as an Orientation/First-Year Seminar Mentor, helping first year students adjust to campus academic and social life. I was employed for 3 years at the local Presbyterian Church as the adult and childrens choir conductor. Read More

I will always be ready to help them on trouble areas or encourage them when they get it right, but I want them to learn how to recognize it on their own so they can develop outside of a lesson! This comes from having them identify: where something didn't go as planned, why didn't it, and what can they do to improve it the next time. Read More

My students learn songs both by ear and by reading music. I teach all styles of music and incorporate both classical and modern repertoire into the lessons. I work with my students on building musicality in their playing/singing by changing dynamics, phrasing, and musical articulations. Wedo a series of simple physical stretches to find relaxation in the entire body, head and neck. For my voice students, I emphasize the importance of breathing technique. Read More
