My teaching experience began in college when I worked as a student volunteer in the Kean University Chamber Music ensemble. I worked with the vocalists in sectionals as well as one adult beginner flute player who I am good friends with. I later became the student assistant for that same ensemble my last semester in undergraduate as I continued to give critique and work with the flute student who was just starting, on the flute fundamentals such as sound, breathing, scales and long tones. I am a passionate performer and teacher who loves sharing my love for music with students. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and Vocal Performance. I continued my training at Manhattan School of Music and received my Master of Music in Voice in 2016. My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student. When teaching drums/percussion, my method books of choice are Standard of Excellence and Winning Rhythms. Read More

My teaching experience has been with All About Theatre Company since 2017. Teaching Kids-Teens how to sing, dance and act. I have been teaching private voice for the least year over zoom since the pandemic. Encouraging regular practice and developing a personal vocal exercise routine for every student is something I do for every student, every voice is unique so there is no one size fits all here. I help encourage a students passion in the area of music they are interested in while exposing them to other genres that might help them achieve there vocal goals. Read More

My teaching experience began a little over two years ago when I began to take on my own private students in my home studio while I was still in college. Since then I began consistently teaching private lessons both in my home studio and at an established studio academy for music. Also in order to finish my degree for my masters, I student taught in two school districts on Long Island for elementary school and middle school chorus and general music. Read More

Singing is not the same as playing an instrument because you are the instrument. When I have a new student, they come in and we spend some time talking, singing, and breathing to see where they are at so that I can determine a lesson plan that is created specifically for them. As most people probably know singing requires good breathing, posture, tone and pitch and it's not a one size fits all. Read More

You will walk away from a lesson with exercises, stretches, and a practice plan. As a singer, I started when I was 14 and then went to college for a degree in vocal performance with a specialty in opera. I then pivoted into musical theatre and moved to New York. I have always wanted to be a singer and love what I do and want my students to find that joy for themselves. Read More

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
I encourage everyday practice to achieve proper awareness of the technique. I always ask students to be able to feel more than think, because music is more a related to emotions than thoughts. I recommend to set up a practice time everyday, at an hour that is more comfortable for the student. Before start practicing, I advice to set up goals for that practice, meaning, what do you wanna accomplish during that session. This can be simple as "I wanna feel my breath." This goals have to being positive and directed to your main goal. Be able to recreate the feeling felt during the lesson and not the sound that was created. I recommend to record in a notebook what felt good about rhe practice session and what went wrong and did not feel good.
Why did you choose your primary instrument?
I come from a music family based of ear musicians. Everyone in my family plays the guitar and sings. At every family party, there is always the time to play the guitar and sing traditional Ecuadorian music. I decided to study voice when I was 13 years old, even though I had being studing music since I was 4 years old. I felt in love with the art of singing and performing in front of a big audience. I always wanted to communicate with people through music and with my singing I am able to transport people into a different place where a story is being told and is based on their own imagination.
When did you decide to become a professional musician? Was it a gradual decision or was there a defining moment for you?
I come from a music family so music was always around me when I was growing up. Everyone in my father's side of thr family are musicians and they all sing and play the guitar but none of them are professional musicians. My parents saw that I had music attitudes since I was little so they put me into a conservatory and see if I'll develop this passion. I loved music and the experience that I acquired at the conservatory was amazing. I was able to connect with people in different levels and have fun makong music. I decided to continue my career as a professional musician when I was 15 years old. Since that year I decided to be more serious about it and study hard to accomplish more goals and objectives. My decision hasn't change since then and I'm proud to say that I chose the best profession because is who I am.
