I also believe in the collaboration of teacher and student. I am always asking students opinions or reactions on what we work on in the lesson. I am passionate about anything and everything music-related. I have studied and teach the guitar, piano, bass and also have an in-depth knowledge of music theory. I am particularly interested in the genres of metal, jazz, jazz-fusion, and ragtime music, although I have experience teaching other genres like classical, pop, funk, and blues. Students learn basic music material rhythmic awareness and basic reading during the first two years, while the fundamentals of music theory and form are stressed in years three and four. Students continue the work begun in the elementary coursework, including more advanced sight-reading. The repertoire is expanded to include longer selections. I began piano lessons with my mother at the age of 8. At 17 I began studies with Irma Harter at the Edith McIntosh School of Music on Long Island, New York. I earned her Bachelor's degree at Adelphi University, where I studied exclusively with acclaimed concert and recording artist David Bradshaw. I also studied with Laurie Ticehurst-Poole at the Bryn Mawr Conservatory from 1996 to 2005, where I participated in master classes. I have performed in recitals at Carnegie Hall's Weill Concert Hall, and I participated in an international piano festival. Read More
