My number one goal is to help my students accomplish their musical dreams, whether that be a classical pianist, a pop singer, the front person for a rock band, write songs or compose music for film, or just sing their favorite song of all time, whatever it takes, I will make sure that we get to the musical destination. It's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I always ask my students for one long term goal and one short term goal so that we can cast vision for where we are headed, map out the challenges along the way, but also celebrate the goals that we accomplish especially in the short term. My teaching style ranges from student to student. For example I love to see my students develop whether they're coming to me as a beginner, basic, intermediate, or advanced student. If I have a gospel vocal student, I work with them on rifts and runs. If I have a classical piano student I work with them on fingering techniques. I began teaching at Derby Yamaha Music School, UK, coaching classes and private lessons for voice and piano. After leaving England, I began teaching at Pladd Dot Music, Statesboro. Here, I taught many students both voice and piano. Two in particular required coaching in their respective pageant and regional championship. Working together on technique etc, the students gained the title of Miss Hummingbird, as well as qualification to Miss Georgia, and qualification to regional championship this summer (2016). I have been teaching private lessons for about 15 years, as well as camps and workshops. I have served as a clinician and instructor at Drumline camps and with Orchestra. I created the Percussive Arts Institute of Ruston to bring music education to an underserved community and taught around 100 students in an after-school program. The play is currently having a run in Detroit and I will be producing it here in the ATL 2016.
