Playing is a big part of the creative process, in that it involves experimenting and finding new ideas, thoughts, and processes that work best for each individual and that will lead to the perfect practice and the excitement of performance. When a student is ready, I will encourage them to do some suggested performing opportunities. I began playing the piano at the age of 3, my father was a musician, and my first teacher! I continued to study classical, pop, and jazz stlyes, and began performing at age 7, and teaching in high school. Since college, I have maintained a private studio, either at home or in pretigious music schools, and have also taught in the school setting. I began teaching music at the age of 15, primarily guitar and piano lessons for beginners ages 7-14 in my hometown of Parker, CO. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum. I have now taught over 200 students ages 4 to 64 a wide variety of music-related subjects, including: piano, guitar, bass, voice, music theory, D.A.W. and notation software, and contemporary songwriting. My focus is for my students to not only understand music, but enjoy it to the fullest extent. For this reason, there is no set structure for all students, but each lesson varies based on the student's needs and wishes. It is incredibly rewarding to watch my students grow in their passion and love for music as well as grow in their confidence. During the first few lessons, we focus on setting goals and building a roadmap that will enable to the student to reach these milestones as well as allow them to dictate where the lessons go and what individual goals they have set for themselves.
