I began teaching privately in the greater Milwaukee area in 2012. With my help and motivation, a fifth grader decided to keep his flute and play in his beginning band, despite his families' circumstances. Later, I picked up an interested eighth grader, who eventually received a Gold at regional solo contest and also made the all-state band. Rimsky-Korsakov Children's Music School in Mykolaiv helped me prepared my students for earning high scores on their academic music examinations, participate in annual national music competitions and programmed regional music recitals , with several of my students winning first place awards and continuing their pursuit of becoming a musicians at the post- secondary education level. I am a recent graduate from Dickinson College with a BA in Music- Vocal Performance and Anthropology. Some of my recent major performance experiences include two solo recitals, including one featuring works of all women composers; Natalie in Next to Normal; and Frasquita in Carmen. Their pacing will be different, their level of experience will be different, the genres that they want to learn will be different, etc. Because of this, my teaching style will vary for each specific student. As far as books go, I prefer the Hal Leonard method, especially for beginner musicians. I combine visual, audio and kinesthetic learning methods to tailor to anyone's needs. I try to assess each student and develop an individual learning plan for them based on their goals, expectations, and ambitions. Typically for classical piano students, I use Alfred’s curriculum (both the student and Adult levels depending on need) and once a classical foundation is learned, we venture into ear training and learning a variety of genres.
