I have been teaching music in various capacities for approximately the last four years. My private studio has included both in-person and online lessons. As the music director of Smooth Progressions A Cappella, I worked with college students of various skill levels to produce an EP and an album. We sang everything from Irish folk ballads to Justin Timberlake. My methods depend heavily on the age of the student and the level of student I am working with. An example would be the beginner level. For beginning students, I first focus on helping them understand their range (i.e. bass, tenor, alto, soprano) and important fundamentals of singing (i.e. loose jaw, full use of our body as support for our voice, relaxed tongue, proper breath support with the diaphragm, expansion of the ribs, proper body posture, etc). For this I have grown the string and choral programs in Elmhurst's 51st Avenue Academy; taught violin, viola, and chamber music at the Queens College Center for Preparatory Studies in Music; led the Stony Brook Pre-College chamber music program; taught strings and chorus in Kiev, Ukraine; taught graduate education courses at Touro College online; and enjoy teaching music at NJ's Calderone School. I completed my Bachelors of Music at Mannes College in 2012. I have also completed my Masters of Music at Rice University under the instruction of acclaimed voice teacher, Dr. Stephen King. In April of 2014, I performed the role of Lady Billows in their 2014 production of Brittens Albert Herring. Over the summer, I also performed extensively with Aspen Music Festival, singing Pamina, Despina and La Contessa in Opera Scenes Master Classes and understudying Sybil Vane in The Picture of Dorian Grey. I begin to introduce solo repertore when appropriate but I do not rush this process.
