I am both an avid teacher and an avid performer. In addition to my teaching experience, I have performed in concerts across the US, as well as throughout Europe. I bring a wide variety of performing practices into my lessons, having experience in both vocal and instrumental performance and teaching, as well as involvement in over 80 theatrical productions. For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. For piano I general use the Faber and Faber method books unless I feel that a particular method would better benefit a specific student. Read More

Mistakes are how every singer improves! With older students, I want to help students learn to recognize their own mistakes and areas they can improve on. I will always be ready to help them on trouble areas or encourage them when they get it right, but I want them to learn how to recognize it on their own so they can develop outside of a lesson! This comes from having them identify: where something didn't go as planned, why didn't it, and what can they do to improve it the next time. Read More

We will also work on some pieces the student will recognize to encourage practicing. We will spend one of the first lessons "practicing" so the student learns how to use their practice time at home. For advanced students, I have a detailed and comprehensive repertoire and method list that we will work off of to make sure the students are developing all the right skills.
