Throughout high school and college, I worked at summer camps and tutoring programs, working with children and teenagers, doing everything from counseling to arts crafts, to hiking and music lessons. I've always enjoyed working with kids, watching their interests and passions grow. I've taught private guitar lessons for 1 year now, doing both virtual and in-person lessons. Recently, I've decided to devote more time to teaching. Guitar and music have meant so much to me and have given me such a powerful outlet. Read More

Since everyone has a different method of learning, I try to identify those, and adjust accordingly. For visual learners, I encourage them to develop their sight-reading skills, but also find creative ways to work around ear training if it is difficult for them. I believe in a student learning to hear music and think for themselves. Through ear training, creativity, and learning "how" music works, the goal is to get each student to not need a teacher to learn their instrument, but want a teacher so they may become their best version of it. I focus on this as a primary value in my studio. In lessons, we'll use formulas and concepts to understand "why" things sound good, and "how" we actually get better. Read More

I've been teaching on some sort of basis since my senior year of high school, when I spent a semester helping the middle school I had previously attended with an upright bass after school program. After high school, my focus was primarily on getting through college, so I taught lessons here and there but not anywhere near full time. When I earned my degree, however, I had some time to begin taking on students on a more regular basis. Read More

I have been playing and writing music for 15 years. I began playing guitar when I was 15 years old, and throughout my high school career I played in several different bands. By the time I got to college I performed with a classic rock band and began studying music theory for piano. In Delta State Universities Interdisciplinary program I began to take in a lot of musical knowledge very quickly. I learned many tools including: songwriting, music production, audio recording, synthesis, piano, live sound, mixing and even took a film scoring class where we put music to video which is a lot of fun.
