For beginner kids, I typically use the Liela Fletcher Lesson Book series. I find that my students usually progress faster with this series. For teens and adult beginners, I use the James Bastien "Older Beginner Series or John Thompson series to get them started. The more fun they're having, the more likely they are to stick to it. For adults, I keep this same philosophy in tact, but incorporate more technique, theory, and performance practice into our sessions in order to facilitate the learning curve.
