I began teaching cello while in high school, serving as a Teaching Assistant to my own teacher and mentor, Olga Ruvinov. I assisted her younger students (ages 6-14) in employing effective practice methods to overcome difficult technical concepts encountered in their main lessons. Learning to play the cello is hard work, but it is fun work! Playing music solo or in a group setting is a unique experience. All my students play chamber music along with their private lessons. I encourage my students to participate in our semi-annual recitals. Recitals are an important milestone to mark progress and share the gift of music with listeners. I feel each of my students are unique. I love watching my students' level of musical understanding progress. I love seeing the dedication and determination begin to heighten as the lessons progress. Within each lesson I point out areas that need to be worked on as well as areas of improvement. Seeing one's progress is the most important element to me for my students.
