I am a cellist that enjoys a diverse career as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and pedagogue. As a chamber musician, I have performed across the United States and internationally. I worked in a teacher-training program called the String Project, where I had the opportunity to observe and assist string teachers in a group setting. For beginner students I usually start with teaching the fundamentals of how to hold the cello and bow and how to make a sound, using Pizzicato and bow movement. I then introduce the Suzuki volume 1-4 books and make sure that the student learns a piece that will help him or her improve the most but at the same time will ensure an enjoyable and successful learning experience. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals and providing appropriate music for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants, needs and technical abilities. Read More

I believe in a goal-oriented mindset; sometimes I like to help students by creating practice guidelines for them to follow in between lessons. I also enjoy giving listening recommendations and the conversations that ensue - by discovering what a student likes or dislikes, I can have a clearer sense of his or her musical personality.
