Some highlights of my teaching career include working with A Gift for Music to give Title 1 schools access to the fine arts, being a cabin counselor and cello instructor for young musicians at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and providing private lessons at The Orlando School of Music. All these experiences created a burning desire for higher fine arts education, culminating in my part in the co-creation of the Central Florida Cello Association, an organization which provides the UCF cello studio with multiple masterclasses a year given by world class artists and acclaimed educators. I believe that it is essential for students to learn the music grammar and the learn the basic fundamentals, which are used by every professional, no matter what style of music they play. It allows the students to be in love with music and later play whatever they want. I tailor every lesson to the student's wants and needs. I try to find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, and of course valuable for the student's progression. Read More

Once I was accepted into the UCF program under David Bjella, a busy schedule and the other cellists having more experience than me saw a sharp decline in my cello tutelage. It was supplanted however by the wide variety of classes and music education electives available to all the music majors, which I quickly signed up for to further my teaching abilities. As my skilled were honed and the creation of the Central Florida Cello Association garnered interest from those outside the studio, students slowly returned seeking guidance for their own cello careers. I then try to bring my approach into the picture. I have a very engaging teaching style. I feel that getting constant feedback from the student is very important.
