I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2019, I graduated from New England Conservatory with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cello Performance. Moreover, I started to learn piano when I was five, and keep taking lesson throughout my musical career. Even though I chose Cello as my major, I did take piano lesson during my four years at NEC. For beginning students I start with the Suzuki cello books, and teach books 1 to 5. I reinforce the Suzuki with pop/ non-classical songs, depending on the student's interest. After Suzuki 5, which is well into the intermediate level, I introduce individual works (small concerto's, sonatas, etc.) and cater them towards the student's ability and interest. For younger or beginner students, I reinforce the Suzuki books with sight-reading, and as they progress, I add in etude studies. Read More

I am a younger instructor who is very excited and passionate about the inter- and intra-personal aspects of music and teaching music. First discovering my love of performing and problem solving through chamber music, I have since received a dual degree from UMass Amherst in Music and Social ThoughtPolitical Economy, and I am now pursuing my Masters of Music in Cello Performance at Boston University. One of my biggest challenges and fascinations with music has been how to balance efficiency and honesty with kindness and graciousness in working with others and myself, and it's something I love to explore with my students. I believe a major key to success in learning music is finding the methods and concepts that click for you. There are infinite ways to think of a phrase or harmonic relationships and I work to learn which connections make sense to you. One major takeaway from my own education has been how to listen to my playing objectively and free of self-judgement. I constantly encourage my students to develop a similar mindset, since I see self-encouragement as much more important than encouragement from a teacher or an audience. Read More

I cater lessons to YOUR needs and goals. I am not invested in there being a "right" technique of any kind. Together we will create a custom approach so that you will love the experience of playing the music you love. I will share fun and efficient ways to practice so that you get immediate results. If desired, I also guarantee you will be playing a blues and improvising within a maximum of 6 weeks as long as you practice at least 10 minutes, three times a week. You will have the option of playing along with recordings minus your part so that you can experience the joy of ensemble playing early on in the safety of your own home. I love creating small ensemble groups of students at similar levels and arranging concerts at regular intervals. Read More

I taught at the Boston Conservatory extension program when it existed. I went to japan and saw Suzuki as part of my training for teaching the Suzuki method. I belong to ASTA and SAA , SMS and AFM I've had students playing in the suzuki festivals. Students I've taught are now having excellent careers as professional musicians. I love to coach my students in chamber music. Several of my students have played in some excellent youth orchestras I have been giving lessons for almost 4 decades. Read More

I emphasize ergonomic/body comfort in playing the cello. Comfort is most important before being able to progress and reach technical heights. There is no formula for any single student to make progress. I work with students to discover their goals on the cello, and to help them expand as instrumentalists, musicians and human beings. Musically, I focus heavily on music theory which I will explain as necessary. I place importance on theory because it allows an understanding of musical patterns that can be easily applied on the cello. Read More
