I have been playing saxophone for over 20 years, but the last four years have been intense, as I was working diligently to complete my music degree. If they are playing in band, I will use whatever their teacher starts with in band and progress from there. No matter the level and ability I always encourage that a student is excited and determined about their progress. It makes a big difference with the teacher and student. I was involved with a program where high school students would work with elementary school band students once a week, and help them work on their band program music and develop their musicality. I found the experience to be extremely rewarding, and have maintained that interest in teaching.
