Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Saxophone Flute Clarinet Euphonium French Horn Tuba
Music has been a big part of my life since I was in the third grade when I first joined the school choir. Eventually I migrated to playing Saxophone in middle school then to low brass in high school. After high school, I made the trombone my primary instrument, though I continued to play euphonium and tuba in college in various ensembles. I have had the opporunity to play all over the country including the Latin Jazz Grammys, the Playboy Jazz Festival, Central Avenue Jazz Festival, the IAJE conference, and for the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). I have 10,000+ hours of teaching experience, and have been an active orchestral clarinetist for the past 15 years. I also play chamber music in various ensembles, and occasionally collaborate in world music settings such as flamenco and Latin music. My students get a solid classical foundation from me, which allows them to freely explore whatever musical style interests them. Most of my students participate in extra-curricular musical ensembles, and many of them go on to major in music in college. Read More

I'm a gentle person who believes in exposing my students to the best music, and bringing out of them the music they have within. The idea is to ease their frustrations, not add to them. As long as the student actually tries, I feel confident they will enjoy the wxperience and learn a great deal. Music is one of life's greaat pleasures and worth every bit of the effort required to do it well. Read More

For wind instruments, I use the Rubank method books for exercises and whatever band method book is used in the student's school. Read More

Often lesson styles are easy going to serve the interests of beginning students, and more demanding for advanced students. Libby writes out lesson plans for all her students according to what she and the student think is appropriate for the student's present acheivement. Libby presents sections on rhythm, tone, reeds-how to adjust them, how to make them etc--she finds music that she thinks the student will like after discussing it with the student. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet
I work with each student on a case to case basis, each student has different needs and approaches, all of which I try and accommodate. I encourage my students to practice at least an hour a day, this can be done in ten minute intervals or whatever amount of time the student can maintain focus. I would also love to hear about what my student is interested in and what I can do to help them become a more well rounded musician. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
I first started teaching saxophone lessons while in high school in Ferndale, WA. I was still taking private lessons at the time; as my skill level advanced, my teacher saw my potential as a teacher and started referring some beginning students to me. Throughout college, I gained experience working with youth and adult students of all levels. As I gained more experience teaching and continued my own musical studies, I became a better, more confident teacher. Read More
