This is supplemented with worksheets and personalized exercises specific to their needs. As the student advances, we will begin to introduce duets to begin to understand and play harmonized music. My main teaching experience comes from working with multiple marching bands during their summer training camps. I worked as a percussion instructor and I taught marching techniques, playing techniques, drills, and rehearsed parts within the section. While in college I maintained a few beginning private students where my primary focus was establishing fundamental playing technique. I love motivating students with music that they enjoy. When someone enjoys what they're playing, they tend to be more engaged and practice more. Read More

I have a set methodology that is flexible enough to cater to each individual student. We learn exercises for basic technique, followed by scales and arpeggios, then we work from a method book to address technique issues specific to clarinet. After that, we work on music such as etudes, solos, and ensemble parts for band or orchestra. I also enjoy helping students with pop and jazz pieces that they enjoy, so that they have variety in their practice and become well rounded musicians and can play many styles. Read More

Hi, I'm Jane! I teach all levels of saxophone along with beginning/intermediate clarinet. I am also open to teaching beginning piano and ukulele. I graduated from Western Washington University in 2015 with a music minor and a self-designed Fairhaven concentration entitled Music, Inequality Resistance.
