I have recently relocated back to NYC and love it here. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of UGA. I have been fortunate enough to record on tons of records and tour the world many times over. My work has kept me super versatile as I have done everything from big band and small group jazz to rock and funk. For beginners, I always start with very basic technique elements such as the proper way of holding the drumsticks, how to position the drum set and having a proper posture while playing to build good habits right from the beginning. From there, I like to work on simple rudiments, and connect this with how to use the rudiments to play simple grooves. I will also bring charts with written grooves of popular songs and we will start playing along with songs, to get used to the feeling of playing in a musical context. Read More

I began teaching as a side gig in college. I found I loved connecting with students, and helping them along their musical journey. Once I graduated I began teaching at a music school started by some fellow alumni. There I was able to refine my teaching style and focus on stimulating creativity in my students.
