My method of teaching focuses on Technique and Musicality. No matter the level of student, these areas can be practiced and results will be heard thru the focus on these. Reading music is taught, but naturally along with the focus on the two areas mentioned before. For example, Eddie wants to learn ACDC's "Back in Black". Eddie will learn the drum part to this song by observing the written notation and by listening and call/response training. Read More

I am an easy going person and I like to teach with a laid back style. I understand that not all students learn the at the same pace which is why I bring an individual approach to all of my students. I like to bring in different ideas and listen to different examples of rhythms and genres and really break down how each one works so that I may be able to find another way to make a groove not only fit into and example, but feel like it was made for that moment. I enjoy sharing my musical knowledge to students so they will advance in their musical aims. In 1983, I attended The Guitar Institute of Technology and studied privately with Frank Gambale, who formalized the single line "sweep technique" on guitar. While in L.A. I also studied with Ed Mann, longtime Frank Zappa percussionist and teacher at Cal. Arts. In Boston, I became assistant to George Russell on the revision of his 1953 copyrighted and published book "The Lydian Chromatic Concept Of Tonal Organization" released in 2001. Read More

Listen, listen, listen! Listening is the most important thing that a student can do to get better at the drums. By doing so the student will be able to imitate, assimilate and finally innovate, which is the goal. Listening to lots of records and copying what the drums are playing is critical! Not only will I do my best in teaching fundamentals, technique or more developed concepts on the drums but I will also provide skills necessary to be able to self-learn and practice efficiently so that the student can troubleshoot and not fully depend on a teacher. I've had a lot of opportunities to sort my teaching out. I realize that if the student doesn't get it, it may be that I'm not putting it across effectively. So I had better try to slow things down or speed them up, model rather than explain, or vice versa! And always try smarter before trying harder, even though harder may be the right approach. Because in addition to teaching music I'm teaching approaches to learning. Read More

I've taught for 20 years , all ages. I'm still passionate and as motivated as when I gave my first music lesson. I have a performance degree from Dean College and was fortunate enough to attend Berklee College of Music. I played Drums for the first time when I was 5 years old. I loved playing, I would run to the drum set after I got out of elementary school. I have a had a number of students go on to Music schools and universities with scholarships ending up with careers in the music industry Read More
