I began my relationship with much when I starting playing drums at age 7. I played in percussion in school bands for a few years then I found the drum set. I found discipline and independence through the drum set, and soon started learning guitar and piano. I attended Berklee College of Music for Contemporary Writing & Production, with a focus in Drumset performance. While at Berklee, I played drumset/percussion in musical theater productions for other Boston colleges (Boston Conservatory, Emerson) and played with local bands in the Boston area. Read More

I think focusing on the basics is very important, but I think it is equally important to engage the student. I always want to know what type of music the student is interested in so they can learn how to play it. Combining basics plus their own interests is something that is very important for me. I also think reading music and teaching out of books is very important. Although it can be a bit annoying to read and do all these exercises. Read More

We start by doing proper warm up exercises followed by learning or practicing rudiments. We work on our grip of the sticks and our movements while drumming. In other words, I teach economy of movement for maximum energy. If a student is flailing their arms, we talk about a more fluid movement by utilizing the wrists and incorporating finger control. Then we move on to reading out of instructional books which is then followed by practical application on the drum sets. With a beginner student I find Basix Syncopation for Drums by Alfred Publishing to be a very effective tool. If you are looking for a Classic teacher with classic teaching methods, you are looking in the wrong spot. I teach with an instant gratification method. You will still be just as skilled (if not more) as the rest of any other musicians out there but what you will have and develop is your own artistry and your own path as a musician. So many teaching styles try to make music more of a science rather than a passion. Read More

I've been teaching for the past 7 years. I started out giving private lessons in my studio in israel. Later on when I moved to Boston, I began giving private lessons at students homes ( students age ranged from 9 - 45). During this time, while attending the New England Conservatory, I also gave master classes at public schools as part of an outreach program I participated in. After graduating NEC, I moved to New York. Read More

In NYC I have played and recorded with many great musicians, including Rasul Siddik, Avram Fefer, Michael Attias, Adam Lane, and more recently with Jean Paul Bourelly, Mark Peterson, Burton Greene and Jon Sass. My collaboration with Reut Regev spans over a decade long, and throughout the years we have worked intensively in Duo, Trio, Quartet and Quintet formats, playing original compositions and covers. Their debut recording together "This is R*time", as well as their sophomore release "exploring the vibe" on Enja records, have received widespread international acclaim, and their group R*time has been touring Europe and north America since the first release in 2009, playing Festivals such as the Berlin Jazz Festival, Belgrade Jazz Festival, Strasbourg, Halifax, and Rudolstadt folk festival among many others. I like to take a holistic approach in teaching beginners by incorporating Technique, Ear Training, Music Theory, and Improvisation right from the start. This allows the student to quickly be able to learn songs by ear and write their own music. For more advanced and older students, I prefer to see where they are in their first lesson and hear what their goals are. Some people do not care if they can read music or not and that is totally cool! Read More
