I graduated from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory in 2018 with a Bachelors degree in Music Therapy. I studied percussion primarily in college, but also studied voice and piano during my time at Baldwin Wallace. During my undergraduate career, I performed with the Baldwin Wallace Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Baldwin Wallace Orchestra, and Baldwin Wallace Percussion Ensemble. I emphasize the importance of developing good technique and a fundamental understanding of the basic components of music: major and minor scales, arpeggios, chords, modes and chord progressions. I believe that technical facility makes it easier to accomplish musical goals while developing musicianship. I like to tailor my lessons to each student using music that the student brings to me to create lessons and exercises. I began my college studies at Eastern Michigan University, becoming a member of the United States Military Academy Band at West Point after my junior year. I have been teaching privately since 2010, when I accepted a position as a teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University. My responsibilities included teaching private lessons to undergraduate percussion majors and coaching percussion ensembles. I also began teaching students from middle school through high school age around the same time, and my students have since included those of adult age. I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels of experience, as they all bring something unique to their lessons and allow me to bring out aspects of my personality that will engage them best.
