I like to get results as soon as possible and stress the fundamentals as they never vary. My goal is to eventually get you playing what you'd like to be playing as soon as possible! We need to be realistic where this is concerned, but your successes will make you want to keep moving forward! Getting to where you want to be musically is the ultimate goal for both you and I. I have been teaching piano since 2010. I started teaching part-time on weekends at the best music academy in Thailand called "KPN Music Academy" having more than 50 branches nationwide. After I graduated from law school in Thailand, I started teaching 2 branches of KPN and I also provided private lessons to students at home. Overall, I taught over 30 kids and among them achieved successful results from Trinity College London Piano Examination (at least pass with merits). Read More

I believe everyone, even teachers are students forever and we are all equal in this journey. I learn just as much, if not more from my students. I find the most progress in students are when they speak out and meet me halfway in the lesson. I am more than happy to adjust my methods as a teacher because no student is the same. I currently work with people with disabilities in music around the greater Boston area, but want to expand all around in the beautiful state of Rhode Island! Read More

I have over 12 years teaching experience both piano and voice to students of all levels and ages. When I work with a student, my first goal is to establish a positive, open dialogue where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new techniques or styles, and stepping outside of their comfort zone. From there, I prioritize developing a healthy technique in both singing and playing piano, emphasize musical literacy where we regularly work on reading notes on a modern staff notation (with all the accompanying vocabulary), and explore a wide range of repertoire that speaks to the student. I am a life-long musician [age 5 - present] from a family of musicians who have played with everyone from Fanny Brice (my grandfather) to Benny Goodman (my mother) to Steve Miller (myself). I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston , MA from 1975-1979 and left (5 weeks short of my degree) to perform in a rock band who toured for 5 years in the US and Canada. Having played everywhere from Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Colorado to Elkhorn Resort in Sun Valley, Idaho to Valdez, Alaska to Cobo Hall in Detroit,Michigan, I have lengthy performance credentials and even more varied experience in the styles and situations that I have performed in that include: rock band, orchestra, concert band, jazz combo, folk duo, Big Band, marching band, drum corps, celtic rock band, traditonal gaelic ceili, flute choir, pit band, church choir, chorus, show choir, vocal solo, commercial voice-overs, vocal duet, musical theatre, etc. Read More

For beginning students, I will usually go with a methods book, requiring them to learn 5 finger patterns, and then eventually major and minor scales(all three forms). Once the student has progressed from the beginner methods book, I will suggest classical repertoire for each student based on their preferences and personal skill level. If the lessons are in person, I will have a white board where we will learn note names, chords, and other fun theory exercises. Read More

I usually try to set small goals for my students each week especially for kids as a new instrument can seem like a daunting task. Something I like to do is encouraging a students own creativity and get them to try writing their own pieces or songs. Something I find helps a lot especially with kids is acknowledging their accomplishments because it will encourage them to progress in learning. Another thing that works a lot with kids is making a game out of practicing, these kinds of things will really access their creativity. Read More
