Nothing is more important than seeing your students progress in their playing. I'm trying to find out what inspires the students so we can always have a successful lesson. Read More

My methods differ depending on a students age and experience level. For the younger students who are just beginning their journey we will learn out of Hal Leonard's books for guitar or Piano Adventures for piano students. As a student progresses we will begin to take the learning outside of these books and more to music theory, technique, and to the application of these practices onto the instrument. For younger students I will make the lesson more fun and interactive, keeping the lesson positive and not viewing it as a chore. Read More

Instruments: Piano Trombone

My passion for teaching began my senior year of high school when I assumed a leadership role within my band program. I led trombone and brass sectionals and helped to mentor younger students. As a result of those experiences, I built a private studio of trombone students made up of my classmates and have maintained a private studio ever since. As I grew as a musician I began to teach jazz improvisation to other instruments and added beginning piano students to my roster. Read More

Coming back to goal setting, each student will want something a little different out of it from the next. So I find it helpful to ask and figure out; if there's a specific song they wish to learn, what some of their favorite artists are so we may get a grasp what style they are into, or just want to learn about music in general so that one day they may be able to create their own original work. My passion is teaching. It's my profession, as well as my hobby (I am a Volunteer Sunday School Teacher). My main goal in music lessons is to make the experience enjoyable for the student -- I'm not very strict when it comes to progress. In my opinion, a student should genuinely enjoy playing their instrument because progress inevitably follows. I love to do risk-free trials because the student and the teacher need to have a certain rapport for the lessons to be fully effective. Read More

Instruments: Piano Violin

I believe music is unique because of individuality. I make lesson plans depending on each student's interests and learning progress. For young beginners, I encourage lots of participation from parents because it helps children feel supportive and it is always nice to see how much they grow. I like advanced students to express their ideas about the needs and wants as well as musical ideas. Different opinions would make lessons more interesting and inspiring. Read More

What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
The hardest thing to master on my instrument is speed. When you obtain the speed that you want to obtain and want to apply it in many different songs it makes a big difference. Speed playing makes a difference in beat, soloing, and memorizing different songs. That is what it is hard to master. It is something that you would acquire throughout time and just throughout practice. Another thing that is hard to master is to learn step by step on what exactly you want to play. IT is hard for beginners and when i was a beginner I did not know until I practiced and practiced. I eventually got use to my instrument.

Do you use specific teaching methods or books? (Ex: Alfred, Bastion, Suzuki, Hal Leonard) Why did you choose them if you did?
I do use a specific teaching methods and that is through listening, utube tutorials and through music theory. I choose ear training since ear training is a fabulous ability that most people want to acquire. It is an easy ability that I have. I taught a lot of people about ear training and that it's benefits about ear training. One of the reasons is that you as a musician would have better performance and better accuracy. I choose utube since a lot of people have the ability to learn visually. By watching you have a better picture of what exactly you want to play. Finally, I choice music theory since that's where all the principals of music is at. You get to learn a lot about music theory and get to also teach about what you learned.

What does a normal practice session look like for you?
A normal practice for me is preparing every instrument I have at my control and hanging out with friends or students. Helping them choose the structure of their song and where they want to take their own song. Preparing the sound, equipment, and lights. Every practice session should have a light and music sheets hanging on their wall. Many artists that inspire them and guitars, pianos, many books about music. It has to be sound prove and their should be total silence when entering the room. In the end you are the one that gets to manage how you would want to manage your own practice session.

If you have a Music Degree, what is it in (Performance, Education, Musicology, Theory, Composition, etc) and why did you choose that degree?
If I had a degree it would be on Music teacher. Ever since I was a kid i always had the desire and passion to teach music to anyone one at any age. My biggest dream was to become a music teacher and to teach music of my own knowledge and my own understanding of music. I started realizing that through out time i wanted this job since it was a job that I would stick with it for the rest of my life knowing that I impacted many children and teenager's lives throughout my music and my music lessons.

...she played on 22 top ten songs, with six of those reaching number 1. As far as I know, the number of records she played on has not been figured definitively, but the website discogs lists 349! Here’s a short documentary on her:     The late 70s and early 80s gave birth to a number of all-female rock bands- many had female drummers worthy of mention, but here are a couple I consider particularly notable:   Gina Schock   Formed in 1978 in LA’s bourgeoning punk scene, the Go-Go’s quickly turned to a bright pop/ new wave sound for their first record in 1981. ... Putting Notes on the Staff The last step to our piano keys chart is learning how the notes of the piano translate to sheet music. There are two different clefs you will need to learn in order to play piano: bass clef and treble clef. The lower notes on the piano will normally be notated on the bass clef and the higher notes on the treble clef. The two clefs do intersect as treble clef goes ... Read More

...dripping water on a rock – one drip won’t make that much difference, and a whole bucket of water at once doesn’t affect the rock, either. If you haven’t practiced for a week, then spending three hours in one day is going to exhaust you and your child, and may lead to injury. But if you keep at it, in a slow and steady way, you’ll work new learning grooves into your brain and you’ll see your technique develop – without the danger of injury.   How Long Do You Practice? How long should you practice? It varies with each child. Most small children can’t ... Read More
