I believe am gifted at finding a good balance, between discipline and chaos, during my lessons. Just enough regimented order, mixed in with relaxed spontaneity. For my younger students, I am teacher that is demands respect and encourages smiles, at the same time. With my adult students, I hold them accountable, without coming off The Boss! This dichotomy also balances types of curriculum we my cover. There will be some written music, some played by ear. Read More

Because of this, most people had given up or lost patience with him. I met him and instantly was excited because I saw the potential he had! I took the approach of patience and fun because I saw that he needed to have the lesson be interesting in order to pay full attention. I came up with a variety of unique ways we could practice tempo, notation, etc, without getting bored. Read More

Typically, lesson plans are build around students goals. Some students may not have an interest in learning from a "traditional" approach from a book. Although this is highly recommended, I create different lesson plans for each individual student. I typically use and coach students from "Stick Control: for the snare drummer", "Syncopation for the modern drummer" and "The Blue Book" for drums. From time to time, I have also taught with "fakebook" charts for jazz drummers as well as play along tracks of various artists. Read More

Not everyone will become a professional musician, but I do believe, everyone's life can deeply enriched with increased musical comprehension. No matter what the students goals, I'm here to help them accomplish that. If they want to reach the bare minimum and become a bedroom hobbyist, that's cool! If they want to master a song to play to a small group of friends, I'm here for them! Even if they have true aspirations of becoming a professional, I'm prepared to share both my knowledge of music, and any pertinent wisdom I've gleaned from my experiences. Read More

I began my musical training at age 8, began playing professionally as a teenager, and have been teaching for 15 years. I graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Music Education, with a minor in Percussion Performance. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to perform several nights a week around Austin, and to have toured the US multiple times during the past two years. In addition to teaching and performing, I have also written many works for concert band, percussion soloist, chamber groups, jazz ensemble, and percussion ensemble. Read More

I am a student of Life. I have been classically trained on Piano since I can remember; music is in my BLOOD! My father plays every instrument known to man (and I mean that), has written, composed, and performed in Carnegie Hall. I had the knowledge and know how of music first hand as a gift from one of the most talented musicians I have heard; with the pedigree to match because I am his son. Read More

In high school, I was blessed with an incredibly patient, thorough and talented choir teacher. He taught me the fundamental building blocks of musicianship as I understand it best. To this day, I use the key concepts I learned from him in my lessons. 1) Rhythm is the most important element of music. 2) Understanding the importance of persistence, practice, and patience with the instrument. 3) You can manufacture energy and put it into your music. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
