I use elements of Social and Emotional Learning in my teaching: students are encouraged to have their own voice in the learning process. We discuss repertoire selection, I encourage them to talk about how the music makes them feel or what they think it's trying to express. This also assists in goal setting, which I do collaboratively with the student, rather than dictate their practice regimen. My teaching takes the form of private lessons on flute, clarinet, and saxophone, and courses at NYU. In each educational situation, I aim to establish clear goals and assignments, build confidence through positive reinforcement, and explain concepts in an engaging manner appropriate to each student. I enjoy teaching students with diverse learning goals and strengths and learning about the unique ways every student connects with music intellectually and emotionally.  Shows I have recently performed includes Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat and Gypsy. Whilst in London, I spent my last two years working with young people of various ages. I worked alongside passionate colleagues to present group musical workshops that may have focused on sound, percussion, composition or with full ensembles. Some of these workshops lasted a day while others lasted a few months. I was also asked by the Royal College of Music Junior Department, who worked with talented musicians aged below 19 or pre-college, to assist in teaching flute students as well as small ensembles. I have beenteaching three kids and teenagers since my sophomore year of college. Ever since then, I have learned that I absolutely love teaching music! I have always liked working both kids and young adults around my age equally and I find it easy to be energetic and enthusiastic as a teacher with my students.
