I began teaching private flute lessons when I was in high school to younger students in the Amityville school district, Amityville, NY. Once I began student teaching on Long Island, I began building a small studio of flute students. I then moved to NYC where I taught in the NYC public school system for 9 years teaching 6-12 grade. In that time, I started the music program at my school where I built 5 choruses, an orchestra, recorder class, a Broadway appreciation class, a step team and completed numerous other tasks. My teaching process looks like a mountain stream. We start at the top of the mountain, and the goal is to get to the bottom. As I teach using my tried and true techniques, we make our way down, but when I notice that my student needs extra help, or should be pushed more, we detour into another stream until we can return to our main path. I am a passionate jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator originally from Los Angeles area. In 2018, I graduated with B.A. in Saxophone Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies at California State University, Long Beach. I am currently attending Manhattan School of Music for a Masters degree in Jazz Composition.
