You can compare it to trying to learn algebra before addition or how to square root before subtraction, you will become frustrated because the concepts are progressive and you don't have a grasp of the basics yet. Through ear training, creativity, and learning "how" music works, the goal is to get each student to not need a teacher to learn their instrument, but want a teacher so they may become their best version of it.
