I was introduced to Live Therapeutic Music for health over 15 years ago and received a partial scholarship to the MHTP school (Music for Healing Transition School) in Clearwater, Florida. I graduated in 2007 from the MHTP school as a C.M.P. (Certified Music Practitioner - Therapeutic Musician) I hold a B.A. degree from UCF in Orlando, Fla. in Education. I was also hired by Nickelodean Studios in Orlando to play the flute for actress Melissa Joan Hart for one of her shows in her TV series; "Clarissa Explains it All." In voice lessons, I start with the Bel Cantor style of teaching and once the fundamentals of singing have been achieved, its time to learn how to break the rules and maintain a healthy singing voice. In teaching piano, I use the book Alfred Adult for my beginning students. When I teach, I always make sure that I present new concepts and ideas in a digestible way. I also make sure my student and I are always on the same page with their goals and their playing. If my students don't understand something or feel like they're in over their head, I don't rush them to figure it out. Backtracking is always seen as a positive thing.
