My first experience teaching began in 2014 when I began working marching band camps as the flute tech. I was responsible for helping the students learn marching fundamentals and drill for the show, in addition to running music related sectionals with the flute section daily. For beginning students, I like to start them on the Hal Leonard Essential Elements. I believe it moves at the proper pacing for young children. For intermediate students, Accent on Achievement works well because I find the music is more challenging. Also I require older students to know scales, primarily Bb, Eb, and F major being that they are the easiest to learn. I studied guitar with international performing artist Anna Maria Rosado and composition with American composer Annette Le Siege.  I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Guitar Performance from New Jersey City University.  I have performed extensively in small venues throughout Vermont, and was a house musician for several seasons at the Yosemite Theater in Yosemite National Park, California. Depending on the individual needs goals of each student, I will customize lesson plans on a week-to-week basis. If there are no immediate goals for my students, I prefer to focus on classical technique and tone exercises that I compile through a variety of method books for each woodwind instrument. This includes but is not limited to: Moyse, Kroepsch, Baermann, Ferling, Shaw, Filas, Lacour, and many others. I expect regular practice form my students and make them keep a chart of their practice hours per week. This helps them to better cultivate their goals and help them advance faster. Also, smart practice... splitting the phrases of the music to make each section clean, etc. ... is a good way to get a student rwally thinking about how the music should sound, and thus increasing their curiosity and passion for their instrument. While it is a learning environment, I hope for my students to enjoy and love music that they're playing. I believe that you must enjoy the process in order to make or see progress. Therefore, it is extremely important that we set realistic goals for each of their own. Accomplishments help the students and makes them eager to learn more.
