At the beginning of my experience with each student, I assess what the goals are for each student/their family, in the musical learning process. I base my teaching on that, within the framework of standard music teaching practices. Throughout the process of the student's learning, I periodically assess, not only the student's progress, but also the student's satisfaction with their learning process. As the need arises, I will make modifications or changes to the teaching, which better suit the student. Read More

I like to take a very personalized approach to teaching and my methods can vary greatly depending on my students goals and interests. I think the most important aspect of learning the guitar is enjoying the process of practicing the instrument. Because of this, I base my lessons on what each individual student desires to learn, teach them concepts in the context of the music that they love, and give them the technical and theoretical concepts behind the music they're passionate about. For beginners, I will start out teaching them the fret board from one end to the other and basic chords. Once the student is up to speed on chord changing and fretboard knowledge, I will begin teaching them easy songs. With students in their mid-teens and up, I will ask them what their interests are and teach them accordingly to meet their goals. As far as method books, I will use Alfred Methods and methods I learned from my past teachers. Read More

I'm a motivated and passionate teacher who loves to work with students, sharing my love for all kinds of music. I started playing piano when I was seven, and have regularly studied music under the tutelage of several wonderful and knowledgeable teachers ever since, and I continue taking private guitar lessons even today. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music from Belmont University in 2017. Playing with a wide variety of ensembles in a wide variety of styles, including rock/metal outfits, pop acts, country bands, jazz and fusion groups, and classical guitar duos and trios, has definitely been one of the defining aspects of my life-long music education. It is hard for me to write out one method because I try to cater my lesson plan to the student. Generally speaking, however, for younger children, I really try to nail down the fundamentals of music. Good technique, reading music and basic music theory are skills that need to be developed at a young age in order to make things easier later on. It's important to create good habits early so that they stick. Read More

I've performed countless amounts of shows around the nation and credit my on the job experience as equally important to my musical education. I encourage all of my students to perform as soon as they are ready and hope to motivate them to share their talents with the world. Read More

I began Playing fuitar in the army in 1970, in Germany where I was stationed. I was inspired to play at a Deep Purple concert, I saw Richard Blackmore playing guitar and I knew that was it for me. I borrowed a guitar from a friend and began practicing and learning and playing. Eighteen hours a day every day until I got out of the army. When I got out I traveled from San Francisco to NYC and back plying in a few bands. Read More
