I've been teaching guitar for the past four years and drums for 10. My favorite thing about teaching is when a student gets to a playing level they didn't think possible. Seeing the transformation is the most rewarding part of the job for me, because I know first hand how good it feels to improve and progress. To see that same sense of acomplishment in others makes me happy because I know the lessons and skills learned are life long and invaluable. Read More

I taught my first lessons over ten years ago now. I was only in high school then but I was very entrupenurial even then passing out flyers and posting them around my school gaining several students even then. This lead to me receiving several scholarship opportunities to many music programs around the country but I decided to stay in Orlando and go to school for completely free. since then I have played with bands and traveled and continued to teach music lessons. I've been teaching private lessons for approximately 15 years. I've worked with all ages and skill levels across many genres. I would say my speciality is working with teenagers and adults who are just starting to figure out more specific directions they want to move in, and helping them dial in their goals and musical vocabulary. I love a mixed approach using songs my students listen to, ear training to be able to play by ear more accurately/faster, practical applied theory so that students can take the concepts of songs they love and use them on their own terms, and understanding what it is to be a rhythm section instrument because everyone who makes music is responsible for rhythm. The most important aspect of pedagogy which, I have learned from my own experience, is that music is best learned through MUSIC! I will always work with the student to find out what they want to play and teach through that style and those pieces; theory and technique are inherent to music from pop to classical and everything in between! I will also work with the student on expanding their own musical horizons and hopefully discover new music together with them Read More

For beginning students who are children, I begin with Mel Bay's Method. I'll introduce popular songs the student enjoys listening to. A student learning how to play a song by his/her favorite artist goes a long way to build confidence and passion for the instrument. For adults, I find what the student is interested in, and guide my lessons according to his/her goals - keeping the lessons engaging and fun, regardless of skill level. Read More

I love working with students of all ages! In 2018, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from Charleston Southern University and have been teaching ever since. I grew up traveling with my older siblings who are all musicians, and we would perform all over for concerts, weddings, social events, churches, and more. As a musician of 23 years, I have loved seeing how music brings people together and am excited to instill a passion for music into the students that I teach, as well as my own children. Read More

I've found that with any instrument, its important to pick music that stretches you, but also music that the student likes or loves to keep them interested and engaged. It can sometimes be hard work, so it's important that the result is you either accomplishing a goal and that could be in technic or learning a song that you love. Even if the student wants to work on improve, we can figure out a song that they enjoy, or have wanted to play along with for a long time, and we can build a track of that song for them to practice too.
