Hello! My name is David, I'm Brazilian and I've been playing guitar since I was 11 years old. I am a composer, guitarist, singer and I was a member of Cadillac Dinossauros, a Brazilian rock band for 16 years. During this period I developed an authentic way of playing as well as stage techniques. At the same time, I also taught guitar as an independent teacher for 6 years. Besides Rock, my biggest influences are Soul and Funk music, Jazz and of course, Brazilian music. Read More

I've been teaching for over 4 years with this last year at Guitar Center in Ogden. I love teaching and finding ways to motivate and get my students excited about learning and progressing on their instrument. I teach foundational music theory, fretboard, knowledge, reading/understanding tablature and also basic instrument maintenance. Read More

I've been lucky enough to perform all over the U.S. and a lot of Europe by touring with different bands in high school, college, and independent touring groups. I've been teaching private lessons off and on for about 5 years now. It's been a goal of mine to learn as many instruments as possible throughout my life and focus on the instruments I love. I've been able to learn the piano, organ, all kinds of guitars, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, percussion instruments, and vocals. Read More

I approach teaching with starting with a solid foundation for beginners. Starting each lesson with some warm-up exercises to help develop the dexterity and coordination playing the guitar demands. Then we start learning chord structure and scales, starting with the major and minors. I teach them riffs and songs that use the chords we are learning to aid in memory retention. we continue to build on these basics until they have a strong foundation. Read More

I believe that a degree of flexibility should always be present within the learning environment. I generally try to understand and establish mutual expectations to ensure that my students are getting the best education possible. I also believe firmly in many of the tried and true methods of musical instruction. This instruction generally includes learning topics such as music theory, improvisation, scale to chord relationships, rhythm, playing technique, composition strategies, pieces of interest, reading notation and/or tabs, and many other pertinent aspects of music. My teaching experience dates back to my youth, as I began teaching private lessons at the age of 15. I have been consistently teaching students in their homes since then, with the most students since graduating from college. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I approach teaching with an empty canvas. As i ask questions and listen to responses, we begin to paint that canvas until we have the same metaphorical picture. Once this is established we can build more and more from that initial canvas. I take my time to guide my students into a hands on approach to learning. I do NOT force students to do something they are uncomfortable with, and If the issue ever comes up I will urge my student, chaperone or parent the speak up! Read More
