My specialty is Rock music. It's my passion, my love and my lifestyle. To learn Rock really well, I also cover the basics of some different styles that I believe are important to know such as Blues, Jazz, Classical and Metal. I believe a musician needs to be versatile and open-minded in order to progress and become fluent in the instrument. I start off lessons slowly with simple technical studies where the student can focus specifically on technique to efficiently and confidently. To help support this stage I typically introduce basic note reading skills to acquaint the students with musical notation while introducing them to playing in time. For beginner students I start with chord shapes. We'll learn what notes are in the chord, where to find the root note of the chord everywhere on the fret board and how to play that chord in multiple postions. Then we work on switching chords in basic progressions and later we move onto scales. For my intermediate students its more about technique and theory. We'll focus heavily on scales and modes and their relationship to each other. Read More

I began teaching private lessons while I was in graduate school, starting in 2016. I have taught at the Peabody Conservatory Prep Division, Yale College lessons program, Music in the Schools Initiative, privately contracted lessons, Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT, and finally and currently, I teach full time as Associate Chair of Music and Assistant Professor at the University of Bridgeport since 2022. We sent students to perform at Terminal 5 in New York City where they performed alongside members of the rock group Living Color. Students also performed at famed venues such as the Ridgefield Playhouse and the Spaceland Ballroom. In 2015 I was accepted to SUNY Purchase’s Studio Composition Graduate Program which took me away from my job at School of Rock. Grad school further contributed to my development as an educator and artist, and gave me new skills to take my career to the next level. Read More

The instructor should be able to identify his/her students "comfort level" when creating/implementing an instruction program for a student. If a student feels as if he is being pushed along at a pace not suited for his learning style the student may not gain maximum benefit from the instruction.
